Challenge Overview

Liquid Portal Release 1 provided is a non-vendor specific crowdsourcing portal style application that allows our managers to launch public events (competitions), known as Liquid Resource, and private events (competitions), known as Liquid Community, using our partner TopCoder. With Liquid Portal Release 2, Liquid Community events will be launched and run in house. Liquid Portal is a RIA application with aExtJSfront-end that is loosely coupled to the back-end via AJAX/RESTful style web services. The web services are hosted by an IBM Optim Development Studio runtime running in IBM WebSphere Application server. The web services themselves are generated directly from IBM DB2 queries and stored procedures using Optim Development Studio that is integrated with IBM Rational Application Developer. Our database is IBM DB2 pureXML. We have a hybrid approach that is a very simple relational schema combined with an XML schema. This competition will implement a parameterized DB2 pureXML SQL/XML XQuery that will return event detail information in XML format for consumption by the front-end. The parameterized pureXML SQL/XML XQuery that you will write will take one named parameter called, "EVENTID". Please see the TopCoderLiquid Portal Release 2 Event Detail Module Assembly Wiki attachementsfor the full contest description.
