Background

Hewlett Packard has developed a set of JSON-based REST API’s which enable “Big Data”-type processing capabilities allowing developers to process information embedded in unstructured text and images in previously inaccessible formats.  This platform is called IDOL OnDemand and at this point is in the Early Access release phase, open for all Innovators to use.

HP IDOL OnDemand Social Media Monitor

Social media have become an important part of many companies’ marketing strategies.  Forums such as Twitter and Facebook not only allow companies to get the word out about new products and services, they also allow a vendor to track customer impressions and satisfaction in nearly real time. One of the most popular capabilities of the IDOL OnDemand platform is ability to perform sentiment analysis on text input.  Social media streams are natural targets for this capability.  The HP IDOL OnDemand group is developing a Social Media Analysis tool using the IDOL OnDemand Sentiment Analysis to allow users to monitor and visualize their social media landscape from within a Saleforce.com environment.  In this challenge we'll be designing the data structures, object models and application framework to make this all possible.

Final Submission Guidelines

Deliverables
  1. Application Specification Designs which usually goes to function level and can be used as the input to an assembly competition or set of assembly competitions.  
  2. ERD/Object Models.  
  3. UML diagrams

Please make sure that best practices are adhered and documented as well.   HP is looking for your creativity in designing the application on Salesforce that considers all the limitations of the platform and is highly scalable.
