Challenge Overview

1. Project Overview

JazzHub is a place where you can collaborate with others to plan, track, develop and deploy software in the cloud. This project aims at thoroughly testing the JazzHub platform and thereby trying to assess the quality of current platform and open the arena of future enhancements.

2. Contest Overview

The goal of this competition is to perform thorough testing against JazzHub platform specifically focusing on following scenarios:

Primary Focus: Usability

Secondary Focus: Functional Testing

TopCoder members should clearly identify usability limitations such as:

  • features that are hard to use
  • unclear information
  • suggestions for improvements.

To access JazzHub, you can use any of the supported browsers by opening link - JazzHub.

3. Testing Instructions

To access and work on JazzHub project, use these steps:

1) Register or sign in using jazzID credentials to JazzHub. Under “Which entry best describes you?” please select “TopCoder Member”.

2) Go to the JazzHub project and start testing with special attention to following areas:

  • Landing pages such as JazzHub home page, JazzHub project page
  • Explore area
  • My Stuff page
  • Code area

Screenshots for the above steps have been provided in the forums.

Please Note: If you create any new project for this bug hunt and testing, please start its name with keyword "TopCoder". For example: TopCoder_<My Project Name>.
 enlightened Testing will include integration with Jazz SCM, Git, GitHub and BlueMix (deployment) and therefore, it should not test features of these capabilities unless related to the integration to JazzHub. NOTE that for BlueMix, you will need to create separate ID.

 

4. Logging Instructions

Please Note: For this project, we are not going to use conventional JIRA interface for logging defects. Instead we will use JazzHub environment to log defects.

 

1.) Once you register and planning to submit, please request access to the private project I have set up for logging defects in forum. I will send you an email with instructions.

2.) Through Work Items Inteface in the above project, you will log the issues that you find while testing the platform.

3.) To log a defect,

Click on Create Work Item, select Defect as type and complete the rest of the information such as summary, filed against, severity, description explain issue, what is desired/expected flow, and image(s) attached under links section when they provide value in clarifying issue. Do NOT add any tags at this time.

5. Resources Provided

We have provided screenshots of various screens that you need to test and also register screen in the forums.

6. Submission Guidelines and Prizing

Please submit a text file on OR. The file should contain two things

1.) The list of all the defects that you have logged along with their id and full name.

2.) Please provide responses to following questions:

  • What were your overall impressions of JazzHub? Provide as much details as possible to fully describe your impression.
  • Will you be using JazzHub in the future? If yes/no, specify why?
  • What tools/cloud based services do you use today during development today?
  • Wwhat would be incentive for you to move to a different set of development tools/services?

 

Please Note: The answer to above three questions is mandatory to qualify for bug hunt award. It will not count towards the ranking of submissions but it is required for qualification to receive prize.

 

The winner will be chosen on the basis of the maximum number of valid defects logged by a member. A defect will be marked as DUPLICATE if it has already been logged by someone else and the first logger of every valid defect will be awarded the points.

The defects will be considered valid only if it is reproducible or supported by screenshots and also all the information in the work item for a particular defect has been completely filled.

In addition to the 1st and 2nd place, we will also award $10 for each valid defect that is been logged by a non-award member.
