Project Overview

Large global consumer electronics company is looking for transformative ideas for consumer electronics devices - desktops, notebooks, smartphones, tablets, TV etc focused on innovating these devices.

Competition Task Overview

Imagine you are an entrepreneur / innovator in the consumer electronics technology community.  Your VC friend who has plenty of funds at her disposal has asked you to develop innovative and transformative ideas consumer electronic devices – desktops, notebooks, smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, etc., – focused on the device itself (form factor, material, etc.), the user experience with the device and/or interaction across several devices.

She has promised to invest whatever it takes to get your idea to the market, if she believes your idea has sufficient consumer interest.  In your submission of idea(s) to her, she has asked you to clearly describe the idea and answer the following:

  • How and where would you use this idea in your everyday life?
  • How frequently would you use this idea?
  • Who is this idea most suited for i.e., what types of consumers? How would they use this idea?
  • What does this idea solve that today’s world of devices / software / services does not?

Sucess Factors

  • The idea needs to be in the market within the next 3-5 years (e.g., an “invisibility cloak for the masses” might not be the best fit)
  • Articulation of the device(s) and its use cases / user experiences
  • Completeness of vision and articulation
  • Concreteness of pain points solved

Area of Interest

We would like to keep the idea pool closer to the consumer electronics area (preferably close to hardware, but getting some software ideas or ideas that help a user benefit from any use-cases tying the overall hardware portfolio together might also be good to get).

We do NOT want to get a hundred "apps" ideas.

Judging Criteria

You will be judged on the quality of your ideas and how much benefit it can provide for the client. You will also be judged on how clearly you describe your idea.

Note since this is an idea generation contest, the decision of picking winners is totally up to the client. And in addition to the top 2 prizes, the client may purchase any additional submissions they also like for $100 each.

What to Submit
