Welcome to the REMIX Challenge
Think you can build a better Best Buy? We do, and we’re launching the Remix Challenge to prove it. Building on the Best Buy Remix open API for BestBuy.com’s product catalog, the Remix Challenge asks designers and developers to help us solve customer problems.
What sort of problems?
Things like how to find the right TV, or the right accessories for your PC. Maybe you’re putting the band back together and need a better way to shop Best Buy’s wide selection of musical instruments.
We’re going to issue a Remix Challenge for each of these specific problems, then work toward the solution together through TopCoder competitions.
What is Best Buy Remix?
Remix is the open API for BestBuy.com’s product catalog. Covering nearly a million products dating back to 2000, Remix is a REST-style web service that offers images, descriptive copy, specs, pricing and availability information, and even offers in-store availability (based on a nightly snapshot) for a subset of products. There is no charge for access to Remix or use of the data, and data is available in both XML and JSON formats.
To learn more and register for an API key, visit http://remix.bestbuy.com.
How To Compete
There is no special registration necessary to compete in Remix contests. You only need to be a member of TopCoder & TopCoder Studio.
You will also have to register for a Remix API key to compete
How to Register for a Remix API Key
Each Challenge will start with an Idea Generation Contest: Tell us how best to use the Remix API to find a solution to the challenge - is it a widget? A web or mobile app?
The winning concepts from the Idea Generation Contest will become the basis of UI competitions on TopCoder Studio, and once we have a great design,we want you to take it and run!
