Alcatel-Lucent has teamed up with TopCoder to put its Web Client Framework (WCF) APIs in the hands of the best developers in the world.  Now is your chance to show us what you’ve got for a piece of $40,000 in prize money.

To enter, register as a TopCoder member, register for the contest, check out the APIs at openapilabs.com and build your application.  Submit your application in Online Review and it will be reviewed by our panel of judges according to the criteria below. Entry Details

This is a call for all talented TopCoder members to compete in one of the most difficult and exciting challenges TopCoder has run. In 18 days, up to three TopCoder members could take away a piece of up to $40,000 USD in prize money. To make the top 3, we want to see your most innovative, cool and sophisticated mashup apps. At a minimum, your app must incorporate two-way interaction between Alcatel-Lucent’s WCF APIs and APIs from Facebook, and may also include leading social network APIs from Twitter, Foursquare and beyond. See below for more detailed contest requirements and judging rules.

• Apps must minimally include two-way interaction between Alcatel-Lucent WCF APIs and Facebook.
• Apps must be innovative, cool, and sophisticated mashup apps that use the WCF APIs well.
• Apps must go beyond just a “communication app” and take WCF into new arenas (like games, social networking, advertising – we are definitely looking for creativity here.)
• Apps must be based on browser technologies (HTML 5, JavaScript, etc.)
• Apps must use WCF APIs exposed on OpenAPILabs.com (http://openapilabs.com/web-client-framework/)
• Apps must use Facebook APIs at a minimum, but we encourage use of Twitter, Foursquare and other leading social networking APIs as well
• Apps must support Firefox, Chrome, Safari (iOS), other Webkit based browsers
• Apps must be resolution independent (can be viewed in a web browser on a PC, Android phone, and iPad), both “small” and “large” devices. If your app takes good advantage of both large and small screen real estate that is a strong plus
• Developer must secure hosting for their application and submit a URL to where it is hosted along with their code.  The application must remain hosted at this URL November 30.

Milestone and Feedback

Submissions received before the milestone deadline will be reviewed by the judges and will receive valuable feedback which can be incorporated in to the final submissions before the final submission due date.  Additionally, milestone submissions qualify the submitter for extra prizes (detailed below) if they are declared a winner of the competition.

Prizes and Winners

One grand prize of $15,000 and two runner-up prizes of $10,000 will be awarded to the winning submissions as determined by the contest judges.  The judges will review each submission according to the criteria below.

1. 34% Appeal – Application appeal including usefulness of concept, quality of user experience, and visual design.
2. 22% API Usage – Proper and effective usage of the specified technology.
3. 22% Implementation – Code quality and conventions as well as proper usage of platform technologies. Commented code is important, particularly around the usage of the Specified Technology, because the submission is intended to become sample code for Alcatel-Lucent projects.
4. 22% Functionality – Functionality of the application including breadth and quality of application features, application flow and organization.

Additionally, up to $5,000 worth of milestone bonuses may be earned as follows:

• Each competition winner who submitted their app prior to the milestone deadline (if any) will also receive a $1,000 milestone bonus.
• The milestone bonus recipient with the earliest submission timestamp will also receive an extra $2,000 prize.
